Ropewalk features participants from a previous project ‘'The Natural Histories of Brightlingsea',talking about their experiences and memories of their local landscape.

It traces the memories and reflections of Brightlingsea residents as they talk about their local landscape. Many remember the childhood game of ‘mud-flat-hopping’ along the ropewalk, an area of ancient saltmarsh, shaped into oblongs by the historic oyster industry, now a Site of Special Special Interest. The film shows the ebb and flow of the tide circulating along Brightlingsea’s estuary while it highlights people’s changing relations to their geographical context.

Made intentionally for a local audience, a version of Ropewalk will be shown in Brightlingsea Museum.
